In the past when we had created flexible left or right layouts we had designed the template so that the user had to go in and edit the index file in Joomla 1.0 or change the parameters in the Joomla 1.5 admin area.

Vision avoids this by using some fancy switching where the alignment of the design (ie whether the sidebar is to the left or to the right) depends on which module position has a module published to it.

To select whether or not you want the sidebar on the left or the right simply publish your modules that you want to appear in the sidebar to the left or the right module position. Its very straightforward ... so if you want your sidebar to appear on the right you simple publish all of your modules to the right position and if the left is your alignment of choice then you need to flip it and publish your module positions to the left.
